Paris, 25th September 2020 – KDDI France announces the opening of “KDDI Data Center Léon Frot” its first data center in Paris. Operational in the first quarter of 2021, this latest generation data center marks a new stage in the group’s development in Europe and France.
KDDI France, the French subsidiary of the Japanese telecommunications leader, announces the opening of “KDDI Data Center Léon Frot” its first data center in France. This investment of more than 100 million euros is an important step in the development of KDDI, in Europe and in France.
Founded in 1975, KDDI France offers companies and communities infrastructure and technological solutions – particularly cloud-based – in the fields of e-commerce, fintech, education and entertainment. By building its first data center, KDDI France wishes to become part of the French digital ecosystem on a sustainable basis by developing the “Wholesale” segment.
A latest generation data center
The future KDDI France data center will be located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, rue Léon Frot. Equipped with the latest technological innovations, it will offer the highest standards in terms of security. In total, it will include 4,500 m2 of computer rooms and provide a total electrical power of 5 MW for customer areas. A first tranche of infrastructure will be operational in the first quarter of 2021.
Thanks to its technical characteristics, this new datacenter will provide national and international companies with an environment giving them access to a very high performance IT and telecom hosting service, particularly in terms of cooling. Technical support composed of 40 technicians will support customers and ensure continuity of service.
An infrastructure that integrates sustainably into its environment
In order for this new data center to integrate sustainably with its environment, KDDI France worked with the town hall of the 11th arrondissement from the design phase.
Technologically, KDDI France relies on materials and techniques capable of reconciling performance and energy efficiency. Local residents will therefore be able to benefit free of charge from the calories generated by the center through a heat recovery system.
In terms of heritage, KDDI France was keen to preserve the richness of this emblematic district of Paris. The exceptional building that will house the rue Léon Frot data center has therefore been preserved and renovated. Its terrace has been vegetated and will become a vegetable garden open to the inhabitants of the district.
